if you love contemporary minimal music, then you are certainly familiar with the greek artist stathis leontiadis. with his bands human puppets, exetix and plexiglas this musician became one of the stars of the genre. now he is back with doric. with this solo project he already released a single and an album on fabrika and a 10- on domestica. the new release is once again a 10-, this time on peripheral minimal. doric uses a special concept. the a-side is the so-called asleep side and is about loneliness: music that sounds paranoid. sleep of reason is almost unbearable, it s madness driven by minimal electronics. everything is very danceable, but this is the dance of madness. the minimal sound comes straight from the 80s. over my dreamssounds a bit like the early parade ground. simply great! head against the wall (a title that needs little explanation) is slow and compelling.

gone beyond. that s what they say when an (astro) pilot crashes to earth and takes the journey into the big sky. when juan trippe took that last flight little did he know that his re-incarnated self would be an electronic pioneer. in tandem with his co-pilot guido zen (his own father also a pilot) and kyle martin (from the land of light) they formed brain machine and scaled the highest peaks to bring back music both unearthly and intensely human. are we all not stardust anyway? this music proves it, takes you out flips you over and rolls you in stardust. don t try and think it through, make sense of it, grasp it - just wander in wonder and bask in beauty. get lost again.

great debut release and new label from a rubadub shop regular featuring tracks from shop regulars. tip. this first release is made up of 3 tracks from my friends and 1 from myself. there�s no concept here other than putting out music that was otherwise not going to see the light of day. the first track is by bleaker who put out a 12inch on unknown to the unknown last year, the second by miz aka big miz whos been putting out music on dixon avenue basement jams, the third by the burrell connection who has a release on west end communications and a track on a craig knows released compilation and the last track is from myself which got a play on big mizs boiler room set. these tracks were all sent to me around the same time and it felt right to make a place for them on a record. bleaker, miz and the burrell connection have all been making waves in scotland and beyond and these 3 tracks are proof that the attention is warranted. and i dont think my track is too bad either.

zum 25ten label-jubiläum veröffentlicht fat possum ausgesuchte titel aus dem backkatalog erstmal auf vinyl so auch the george mitchell colelction von houston stackhouse. es ist george mitchell zu verdanken, dass viele klassische blues-aufnahmen entstanden und bis heute archiviert und verbreitet werden. ab 1976 arbeitete mitchell für das bureau of cultural affairs in atlanta, und er begann das land zu bereisen, um folk und blues-musik systematisch mit einem mobilen aufnahmegerät einzufangen und zu dokumentieren. diese arbeit betrieb er über eine dekade, und durch seinen persönlichen einsatz sind klassische blues-alben wie dieses von houston stackhouse und seinen befreundeten musikern entstanden. stackhouse spielte als erstes instrument die mundharmonika, und seit den 30er jahren spielte er in mississippi gemeinsam mit größen wie robert johnson. später verlegte er sich vornehmlich auf slide- und elektrische-gitarre. so spielte er in der folge auch mit muddy waters, little walter, jimmy rogers, roosevelt sykes und earl hooker.

fantastic voyage�s autumn 2015 release of soul for dancers proved so successful, that we didn�t have to think twice when lois wilson (mojo, record collector) asked if she could do it all over again. it turns out that there were plenty more classic sides in her dj crates, drawing on that rich seam of early soul and proto-soul rhythm & blues, of the sort that would have packed the dancefloors on the sixties club scene, or has been embraced by subsequent generations of club soul diehards.

in the place of the eternal blazing sun there exists an underworld, a dark and cold space of interlinking caves and dank corridors. occupying the subterranean land is an army of worker drones, busying themselves with a never ending series of tasks, both laborious and mechanical.
